    Default James McArthur

If I was Mark Allen, I would be laying the groundwork to try and tempt James back to his boyhood heroes.

He's in the final year of his deal at Palace and has been a solid EPL performer. Played well for Scotland last night.

I wonder if he's at a point in his career where he would be willing to come back north?

You're right AWK he played well last night and he is a very good player.

My only concern would be that we've already got 2 excellent, younger players in Jack and Rossiter that can play that position.

We may have higher priorities mate.

Did he not say somewhere it was his ambition to sign for Rangers

If that's the case and he's in last year of his deal he has to be at least approached

It be definitely worth a bash. What's the worst he says no and we chase a different target.

I do think it would all really depend on the same as Dorrans, does he think that he has all he can do realistically within the English game and jumping at the change to come to us or he keeps plodding along achieving more than the odd plaudits and money.

It's a sickener to say but the reality is even in a year he'll still be out our reach, he's done well at Palace so I think an extension is likely - whether or not he hangs around remains to be seen.

Not to mention the kind of money he'll be on.

I'd rather the priority was the left side

I think Hsnes would be happy to come to Tangers when the time is right.
That might be when his contract is up

I believe Ewan Chester tried to sign him from Hamilton and was told 300k was too much

Not the first time you've read my mind mate,I really like McArthur but for the cash involved I'd rather have the two younger guys providing they're both fit and firing.

Isn't he a bit too similar to Dorrans? Same age and both are similar in style IMO.

McArthur is pretty much a first pick for every manager he has played under.

Dorrans has always be an in/out player for the majority of his managers down south (whilst still racking up a lot of games).

McArthur is a better player in every area for me.

He'd be an excellent signing, I can't believe people are saying they'd rather have Jack and Rossiter in there.

I'd love to think we could pull it off but it would be tough as he'd have plenty of EPL offers. We'd probably have to put together a package close to 25-30k a week.

I also think we could possibly sound out guys like Davis and Brunt too.

Outwith sentiment, these guys are out of our reach. We should use our draw to get these kind of players in when we can.

Is James playing under Frank? Cause big Sam bombed him out last season.

Brunt is in his final year but not David unfortunately.

Johnny Russell is also in his final year and would be a good threat from the left wing. I know he is a Tim but after chatting to him by chance a while back he said he would come if given the chance and he said he loved coming to Ibrox to play when he was at Dundee Utd.

I know but we should use that sentimentality to our advantage.

Personally I think Davis would love to come back if we offered him the chance.

Brunt would be perfect for our left side of midfield IMO, even if it was just for a season or two.

I think he would jump at chance to play for Rangers. The boy and his family are huge bluenoses.

I am sure I read that recently. If true this surely makes it possible.

Another player sneered at on here, even after he gave Barry Ferguson the run around at Ibrox for Hamilton.
