Remember him playing for HAFC with McCarthy, both young. FF posters, arrogant as ever, saying they were both mince. Both playing at a level most of our current players could only dream of.

If a player of that quality is available you 100% sign him up.

He would be a first pick in central midfield no doubt about it.

Went to school with James, been Rangers daft ever since i've known him. He'd walk through broken Glass to get to Ibrox.

    Yes but, when was this?
At the time, it would probably have been 300k for a kid whose chances of making the first team were going to be limited, to say the least.

All short sightedness clear the guy had ability and 300k was a steal, and he would have been right in the first team within a year.

Chester was and is a complete arsehole.

I would have taken both of them in a heartbeat.Wouldnt even bother about McCarthy's allegiances because the two of them would have been standouts for us.

He moved from Hamilton to Wigan in 2010.
What was our midfield back then?
Yes, he had ability and was a good player but, would he have been good enough to break into the Rangers team within a year or two?
    Displacing Davis, Mendes, Edu?
Then it's how long would we have got from him.
Two years tops, I'd say, before he would've become a pariah for having to leave.
Sometimes, it's better that some things didn't happen.

Wouldn't call them arrogant, clueless would be a better description.

I would have said he possibly could have got a game before Edu and Mendes was only ever going to be here for a short term.

He is still improving so I think he still has one big contract in him down south as he is just coming into his prime at 29.

He is actually a goal-threat when moved further forward nowadays.

We should have signed him a while ago, if it is a possibility we should be right on the case .

MacArthur is a good player ,however we have good cover there we all know where we are lacking.
The wide left MF role is our weak point.
Another in Scotland squad that plays that position and is a Rangers man is wee Anya bags of pace and can beat a man.
I still remember that brilliant goal he scored against the Germans.

Next season should be about adding 4/5 quality players and being shrewd with the free agents is a great place to start.

Be a great piece of business to start if we could get McArthur.

He wants to come back to Scotland before his daughter goes to school.

He'll be 30 next month and is he possibly to similar to Dorrans?

To be fair he does lack pace, his game intelligence more than makes up for it, don't know what game tags was watching where James got the better of Barrie ? If it was the infamous 1-0 game where James had a goal disallowed, he should watch again.

Correct. And the way it was told to me - by someone who knows Ewan from his Barrhead days - it was the club's decision not to bid.
