Chic Young (I know sorry) suggests in the Express this morning that Rangers supporters boycott the Dunfermline cup game at Ibrox instead of League games to show the Board their disapproval.
What do the Bears on here think of this suggestion? personally I think it may be good way to show our disgust.

I like the idea especially as DAFC get 50% of gate receipts and is televised.

Chi Young, allegedly a professional journalist, is advising fans which games to boycott.

You have to wonder whose agenda that horrible wee creature is working to.

If a broken watch is right twice a day then even Young might get something right one day.

He's not suggesting anything that's not been mooted on here with this one.

As the game is on tv on a Friday night we'll be lucky to get 20k anyway

That will allow thousands of folk to say they boycotted but they weren't going in the first place.

He simply wants us not to win a cup!!

Spot on. Any boycott of cup matches puts cup runs at risk. Even Young knows this.

A boycott of a cup match makes a total mockery of the banner from earlier in the year that said "support the team, not the regime"

i think the day we start taking a lead from a clueless, moronic knumbnut like chick dung; is the day we turn the key in the lock for the final time.

Would any boycott not make a mockery of that then?

what was the "logic" behind his ramblings?

I can just about see how that might have the biggest financial impact - but given that 50% of the game goes to DAFC, then it's going to be a small hit

the cup is a 1 off game and could go either way, that is when the crowd need to be behind the team....the league is pretty safe with a big margin, so not as important that we win every game

I am all for boycotts of game to send a message - however, the money is already in (and probably spent) so i think we should consider the following

1. boycott of tickets/attendance - unless you have a season ticket already paid for. (i.e no walk up ticket sales)

if you have a season ticket, but can't attend, offer it to someone who wants to go and who would otherwise buy a ticket

2. Turn up early and protest outside the ground - don't go in until 5 mins after kick off starts - will let the team run out to a half empty stadium - and the directors will see it too - and they will know why. it WON'T be mistaked for an anti-apartheid protest (FFS!)

3. Leave early - and protest outside the main stand as well - leave with 10-15 mins to go and stand outside the main entrance until directors/players leave

4. no merchandise, no pies, not a penny spent at the club - and write to them telling them why

5. write to clubs sponsoring the club and tell them why you are not buying their products whilst the current board remain.

6. contact ex players of the club and ask them to support the fans cause and make statements to the media supporting the boycott.

things will become clearer over the next few months - and each bear will have to make their own minds up when it comes to season ticket renewal time.

He simply wants us not to win a cup!!

Well that must be true of many FF contributors too then who also want us to boycott everything it seems. As a Rangers fan, I would never boycott my team.

I think Rangers supporters should do precisely the opposite of whatever the media tell them to do. If the Scottish media are trying to encourage a bhoycott and they are, then they are certainly not doing it for any advantage other than their own.

largsbluenose
27-12-2013, 12:50
I'm boycotting it anyway. I've got a season ticket so this is one of the few ways I have of making my feelings known to the board.

The issue of boycotts I'll leave for another time but this snivelling little prick was on the radio not so long ago when we went into administration spouting pish about the Rangers being dead and suggesting changing our name to Govan United, that's the shit talk he was coming out with. He's just a horrible wee c@nt and if he's invited to host any more club functions then the person responsible for booking him needs a slap and shown the door.

Of course a club that actually cares about it's reputation and it's supporters would not be giving people like young the steam off their piss let alone paying for their services and welcoming them with open arms like our club does with a whole host equally appalling individuals.

Where's the 'like' button?
Unfortunately, Young's found a potential problem. Winning on the park covered for the miasma in the boardroom. I worry about battle-fatigue if the spectacle on the park reverts to last seaon's fayre.
Hypocritical Pars are typical of the parasites we've carried for too long.
