@BBCAlLamont: St Mirren and Hearts leave too. George Campbell says doesn't think it'll be status quo next season. David Southern says talks re play offs..

These guys are hell bent on change.

Lots of conflicting views coming from that meeting!

They are trying to introduce a playoff - this year? Really?

They are OK this year. The plan would be that 11th place enters a playoff at the end of next season.

Introduction of play-offs at the end of 2013/2014 agreed before the start of next season I would think.

Doesn't sound as if there is anything to report on SPL/SFL merger with the associated redistribution of finances (there really isn't time to get all that agreed before start of next season IMO).

I liked the one that they (SPL) are trying to get out of being sued by Harry Hood :)

Theres plenty of scope for change but just not if the change is 8/8/8.

First division/SPL playoff for a 2nd promotion/relegation slot would be a good compromise if it means gaining a single governing body and better financial distribution.

The undue haste will be revealed to us one day. It's clear now Scotbear.

Dwindling income resulting in serious cash flow shortfall.

Owners will not commit further funds, banks will not extend facilities.

Closed stands, cut price season tickets from yahoos are all testimony to that.

The SPL teams are so desperate for something to boost income they will try almost anything in pursuit of enhancing it - even if it is extreme short termism.

EHH

just a wee question, what if the sfl do a nacho and say no thanks,

we want two automatic promotion places from the 1st division and a playoff with our 3,4,5,6 position to win a playoff final against your 3rd bottom team,

lets see how far these spl ****ers will bend

The extra income generated may keep some teams afloat financially, even if they sink like a stone in a sporting sense:)

But the 8/8/8 threatens income as clearly stated by Ross County and St Mirren...fans won't buy s/tickets for this and when they go to 'pick and choose' a game culture they will choose not to bother at all. This is where Austrian and Swiss models collapsed...

Play-offs and revised income distribution still very much alive.

IMHO of course.

8/8/8 has been killed by Ross Co and St Mirren already
