View Full Version : Sheep may close part of stand at Shitoddrie

fatboyblue
12-02-2013, 14:38
It appears that season ticket holders with seats in the upper deck of the Richard Donald stand are being phoned on their views regarding the possible closure of this area of the stand.

This is in an effort to reduce costs and due to declining attendances, move fans closer to the pitch to create a better atmosphere.

Saturday's attendance v St. Mirren of 7200 was less than the amount of season ticket holders at Shitoddrie.

Hency why the Tims quote 40 odd thousand when there is half that in the ground?

Some clubs quote the amount of tickets sold, others give out the actual attendance inside the stadium, and then you have celtic who just pluck a figure out of the air.

It's the gate reciepts that count for tax purposes, not the published attendance.

oldgreg
12-02-2013, 16:33
I think its become pretty clear that the screaming skulls that were threatening to cancel their season tickets or never buy any again were lying. They either weren't season ticket holders in the first place or didn't renew anyway. Not just Aberdeen, but Hibs, Dundee Utd etc. If we believe what we were told at the time, a wave of indignation was sweeping across the country and us being voted out should have resulted in thousands of extra fans on the gate of these clubs. There has been no such effect.

Asked if Rangers playing in the Third Division had damaged the league, he said: "Oddly not. I think a number of people were predicting that there would be huge financial difficulties amongst clubs.
"Half of our clubs are showing an increase in attendances this year.
"It's not anywhere near as bleak as it might have been and part of that is because so many of our partners - the Clydesdale Bank, Sky Sports, ESPN - have stood by the SPL and that's why, along with the fans coming through the gates, the game is actually in robust financial health.

They could never fill a ground anyway, but even if attendances ARE up a bit (and I have no idea as I haven't been paying attention to their stats), then perhaps our money - the money they didn't need, of course - is being missed after all. Whereas we don't miss them in the slightest.

If they're running short then they could always try picking up all the coins that their fans kept throwing at the Rangers end.

They couldn't even fill it when they were winning in the early 80s.

Very strange support.

In the current era its not too surprising they are now closing stands after losing a generation of fans, it can only get worse for shite like them with kids running around in Man U / City / Barca / Madrid tops etc.

Their crowds will be 4k max by the end of March now they are in free fall in the league.
