No chance. He made his bed when he chose ROI. Plus will just be another disaster. Bring back Sir Watty.

need to get away from the "he's scottish and won a game once so he's brilliant" mentality
(no sniggering about Coyles nationality)

there are ZERO scottish candidates that would/could take it on
in fact, there are ZERO uk candidates

needs someone from the continent with fresh ideas

Scotland should get Andy Cameron ,not any worse than the other bad comedian's they've had and probably cheaper to get rid of, oh maybe he doesn't have the fave Scheltic ideals.:D

Why should a person who pledged his allegiance to the republic of ireland , be considered for the Scottish Manager's job .

Oh forgot there . mr lawwel probably said he was to be considered !!!!

He can't be serious. He's an absolute car-crash of a manager.

Without a shadow of a doubt Strachan will get the job. 2 years time, the SFA will be paying him off too.

DadoPrso42

He would jump ship at the first EPL offer. No for me, we need stability.

Strachan or Joe Jordan IMO.

Whoevers gets it they have no hope of doing well anyway

Not a good manager, no plan B, can't organise a defence. Gives teams a short boost of confidence then all goes wrong.

Actually think he would be a better option than Strachan

All about opinions

nope, no thanks, don't want a foreign manager when we have so many good scottish ones.

I don't really have an issue with him playing for ROI. The fact is he wasn't good enough for Scotland and was given the chance to play international football. Pretty sure he only got one cap. It's not really any different from us calling on the services of the likes of Don Hutchison and one of our own hero's Stuart McCall. It's not like Coyle turned his back on Scotland in the same way McGeady or McCarthy did for example.

In any case there is no way he should get the Scotland managers job. Coyle has done nothing at managerial level to warrant a job like that and in truth has no real pedigree as a player either. He was a run of the mill footballer, who made a living out the game. Like many my first choice would be Walter Smith but I really can't see it being offered to him again and I'm not sure he would take it.

Strachan seems the obvious choice, I would be happy enough with the appointment.

p.s I also dont think the national team coach MUST be Scottish. If Harry Redknapp, for example, wanted the job I would take him in a second. I know the skirt wearers would implode at that one but for me it's about the best man for the job. If that man happened to be from another nation, so be it.

Harry Houdini could not conjure up a performance from that squad.

They are shite and would have been as well accepting that and sticking with Avril.

Im surprised he is interested. Poisoned chalice. Just shows how low his confidence has dropped. Seems a decent sort, with some talent, and despite comments to the contrary on here, he has a better track record than the last manager. Still no idea why anyone under 60 would want the job.

The same reason McLeish did, its an opportunity if they are successful to get a gig back in club football.

Would take Coyle, think he is a decent gaffer who tries to play the right kind of football.

IMO of course

Surely he is uniquely ill equipped due to the baggage?

How could Tartan Army even pretend to accept him?

Granted, but the success possibilities appear to be diminishing rapidly as time goes on.

TBF Coyle had no chance of being picked for Scotland ( we were better of for players when he was playing)

Agree it shd be Walter tho

So a Plastic Paddy in charge of the Scotland Team will have to comment when plastic paddys choose ROI over Scotland based on religious bigotry.

No thanks.

Scotlands Manager should only be scottish

Excatly. We've been down the foreigner route before.
I would accept a British manager though, someone like 'Arry, but no foreigners.

Would be a fantastic appointment, his teams play good football and he knows the scottish game well. I'm surprised he is interested despite things not going well at Bolton his stock is still high in england because of his achievements at Burnley he could still get a decent job down there.
