Goalie would boot the ball out, and the rest of us would need to score into him to get through to the next round.

Records and gauntlet

The latter being if you conceded 10 goals you had to either run through the gauntlet of your mate's lined up booting your shins or blasting penalties at your napper and you couldn't flinch or they got to retake it only closer >:)

Had the usual world cuppy/ 2 and through type/ 10-21er games

Target practice (hitting the windows on the changing pavilion at the pitches down the road from my bit)

Barry - the original 'Crossbar Challenge', stand opposite sides of the goal posts and try to hit the bar. You got another shot if you hit the bar - it was quite an achievement to scud the bar on an 11s goal when you were a wee lad :D

Catchy (if you couldn't be arsed playing world cuppy or whatever) - goals could only be scored on a fully volley/ header and the goalie had to make a clean catch (no bounce from the shot/ cross). If the goalie caught it, then the player who touched the ball last had to go in

Wally - a bit like squash, hit the ball of the wall and your opponent had one touch to return it - got a point if your opponent failed to do so

wembley doubles - basically one goal and your through with your team mate

ruby - ten goals, last person in goal gets ball smashed at there arses from three yards by everyone who kept the ball up and contributed to the last goal

tunnels - same as above, but at the end everyone who played lines up in a tunnel formation while the last keeper has to try and get through (seen some injuries in that one)

Headie Two and in

One on one or 3 man game which was one goalie, one on one outfield

Start the game with a header, two touches to score or you go in goals. opponent cant touch the ball till your two kicks are up. If they do touch the ball you get two fresh kicks to trey and score

Alphabetical wally (and international alphabetical wally).

Had to hit the wall and name a team begining with whatever letter.
First shot every player had to name a team beginning with A, second shot a team beginning with B, and so on.

J was always awkward.

Cuppy, games involving up to 30 on each side (total carnage) and target practice.

My favourite was wallie - whre you had to skelp a ball off a wall then your opponent had to kick it back off the same wall from wherever the ball had stopped. Lots of potential for almost impossible trick shots :D

world cup was always called worldy down our way our worldy dubs if it was 2 a side.

Game called relly (i think). Everyone would start on say 10 points if you let in a goal you lost a point. lose all your points your out the game. last two points had to be lost by a header and full volley. Full volleys only in the box, one bounce only further back (canny tee yerself up) and long range shots from behind a certian point only.
If you shot wide or over you ware in goal, keeper caught it then it was a penelty to him.

Memories indeed! Trying to be Jim baxter and do keepy ups the whole way to the goal before it had taken a bounce then smashing it in from 2 yards haha!

We also had the 20 aside on a Sunday on the red ash .....ash burn was a c*nt:eek:

remember back in my juvenile footy days, we got drawn away to calderbraes and were told the game would be on grass.got down to glasow to betold the pitch was unplayable so was moved to the red ash pitch.

id turned up with my keeper kit which had shorts instead o trousers. think i dived once out of instinct.lost a couples of layers of skin from my knee all the way up to my waist.puch!!

what a great double save though:D

didnt dive after that mind you. still beat then 2-1 though:D
