Not saying he isn't talented - he obviously is. But more talented than 2 younger players who are playing more regularly? Doesn't make sense to me.

Auchenhowie certainly seems to be a breeding ground, and our current situation means we have to play youth and have them around the first team squad. But we (as fans) have to encourage and continue to allow this to happen moving forward.

I'm easy confused right enough, been an emotional few days :D

Can anybody clairify this?

I would imagine its not as simple as just being under 18, it will have something to do with the players birthday

Mckay is currently 17

The haters are starting to pick up on this rule out in the forums and it would be good to have something firm to go back against them with

18 Special provisions relating to contracts
between professionals and clubs
1. If an agent is involved in the negotiation of a contract, he shall be
named in that contract.
2. The minimum length of a contract shall be from its effective date until
the end of the season, while the maximum length of a contract shall
be five years. Contracts of any other length shall only be permitted
if consistent with national laws. Players under the age of 18 may not
sign a professional contract for a term longer than three years. Any
clause referring to a longer period shall not be recognised.

Sebo1873

absolutely delighted with this, especially after a few people on here grubmling saying mckay didn't want to sign a new deal with us etc, also delighted Mcleod has signed a new deal aswell as hes' gone about his business quietly and efficiently where mckay has got more plaudits. Mitchell i havent seen alot of so i cannot comment on him, still happy none the less :)

SFA chiefs have told Rangers to FORGET handing Barrie McKay a five-year deal.

Hampden rules prevent clubs giving contracts of more than three years to players before their 18th birthday.

Boss Ally McCoist must now decide whether to give 17-year-old McKay a shorter deal or delay the five-year one until his next birthday.

The red tape blow comes just a day after Gers announced deals for McKay, Lewis MacLeod and Robbie Crawford.

SFA registrations chief Sandy Bryson said: “They could, if they choose, enter a three-year contract for him just now and, when he turns 18 — on December 30 — offer him a longer one then if everyone is still agreeable to do so.”

McCoist also wants to reward Lee McCulloch and Neil Alexander with new deals.

Meanwhile, the SPL-appointed commission will start their hearing regarding alleged undisclosed payments by Gers on November 13.

Charles Green has insisted he won’t take part in the probe, while claiming other SPL clubs have used EBTs.

But an SPL statement said: “The SPL notes the recent statement by Charles Green.
