After seeking advice from an external Independent QC, and having considered the evidence and Magistrates' Court decision in the John Terry case, The FA has today charged the Chelsea player following an alleged incident that occurred during the Queens Park Rangers versus Chelsea fixture at Loftus Road on 23 October 2011.

It is alleged that Terry used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Queens Park Rangers’ Anton Ferdinand, contrary to FA rules.

I would imagine that the FA's proof of guilt won't be a stringent as a criminal court. There's no doubt he said whst he did and the FA are within thoir rights to take action over it.

Football authorities apparently now think they are an alternative legal system.

Terry got off with it. This happens in courts throughout the land every day.

The FA should just have accepted the verdict.

The burden of proof is different in a civil case v a criminal one

He could now be in bother as he's admitted using the phrases so he's made their case for them. That may well be enough

He admitted using the term, Anton and Rio should join him on charges of bringing the game into disrepute.

They are putting another English manager in difficult position by doing this.

What if Hodgson wants him to play and skipper the team? I suspect Terry will walk away.

I'm not Terry's biggest fan as a person, but he got found not guilty so I don't understand why the FA want to dredge it back up again.

This^^, surely cry baby Ferdinand was every bit abusive as Terry, and it was supposedly Ferdinand started the whole thing.

Are the fa showing themselves to be racist by only investigating the white man?

Different standards of proof in criminal and civil cases.

Remember OJ got off the criminal trial but got done in the civil case? Same idea.

Not saying it's a slam dunk but they obviously think there's something in it.

All sorts of verbals go on between players during a game

I reckon if this really had been a, genuine, racist dig then nobody would've been shy about sorting him out right there n then

some copper sitting at home making a complaint about somethin he's seen on the telly feels a bit too intrusive for me

the F.A have been forced into being seen to do something

Clearly the FA are superior to the law courts in Engerland. Same as here in Scotchland.
