Remember this Stewart

Club chairman Stewart Gilmour has contacted us on his way home from Hampden and asked us to publish the following statement on behalf of the club;

As you will now be aware St.Mirren FC today voted against the application by the Rangers NewCo to be admitted to the SPL. This vote was part of an overwhelming rejection of the application by the SPL member clubs.

It will now be left for the SFA and SFL collectively to decide where the Rangers NewCo will play it's football next season.

Those organisations will make their decision in due course without any pressure from the SPL or it's member clubs and we will fully respect whatever decision they make.

We now hope that the St.Mirren support will get fully behind the club and team as we prepare for the new season and start once again to focus on football matters.

As the temperature rises in the ongoing saga of above [SPL Newco], it should be made clear to all St Mirren supporters that Stewart Gilmour met with Charles Green, Alistair McCoist and other representatives of Rangers Newco last week.
I made it perfectly clear that our Directors view was that our club would not be voting for a Newco entry to the SPL, directly to the officials of Rangers Newco. This meeting was held in confidential circumstances to allow both parties to enable the other to see there respective positions. A very positive meeting was held, however, the position of St Mirren has not changed and our stance of sporting integrity was maintained against the very pressing commercial arguments.

Dear Mr Gilmour,

Stewart Regan has presided over an SFA that has shown preferential treatment to Celtc, Celtc employees and Celtc fans, while at the same time showing a hateful and spiteful bias against Rangers FC, it's players and fans. That same SFA has shown neglect toward it's own employees and it's own officials in it's bid to facilitate Celtc and the Celtc Minded as the dominant force and voice in Scottish football. Ditto the Media

All of this happened and you said nothing, but then it didn't affect you did it?

St Mirren boss Danny Lennon: Crowds would surge if Rangers went to the wall Feb 17 2012 By Gordon Parks

DANNY LENNON last night insisted Scottish football would enjoy a crowd surge if Rangers went to the wall.

The St Mirren boss believes provincial clubs could thrive on a more level playing field and prosper without the Ibrox side.

Lennon is sorry to see Gers in such a sad financial state but he’s adamant their death would send plenty more punters through the turnstiles elsewhere.

He said: “If you don’t have a Rangers or a Celtic then you would have teams up at the top challenging for a place in Europe or for the title. Then the crowds will come.

Well it does now and your silence, your compliance and your cowardice, whether you like it or not, all contributed massively to your own downfall.

Part of a statement by Gilmour on 5th July from paisley daily express - HYPOCRITE

However, he insists he will not heap further pressure on SFL chiefs, who now have a monumental decision to make as they decide Rangers’ fate.

Gilmour added: “This is now in the hands of the SFA and the SFL to make the decision that they feel happy with.
“This whole fiasco has dragged on too long but it would be very unfair to pressurise these chairman in the SFL.

“I understand that because, for the last few weeks, I have been under that same pressure and the last thing these people need is others like me telling them what to do.”

ST MIRREN fans are being urged to contribute to two separate supporter-backed fighting funds which the Paisley club will be able to dip into if the SPL cash crisis deepens.
Both the 10000Hours group and the St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMISA) hope to set up emergency cash reserves which will be donated to the Buddies.
The money will be used to keep the club afloat should the Rangers newco crisis drive away big-money SPL sponsors and leave Saints chiefs with a potential £1.1million black hole in their budget.
Bosses at 10000Hours, who are hoping to buy control of the Paisley club, have dubbed their fund Nero Blanco – with nero being the Italian word for black and blanco being the Spanish translation for white.

Originally, bid architect Richard Atkinson had planned to prop up Saints with cash pledged from his group’s 1,000-plus list of supporters in the event of backers such as Sky pulling the plug on the SPL.

But he has now decided not to divert away money that was specifically offered for the purpose of helping to buy control of Saints – and has instead set up a separate fund which fans will be able to donate to.
Atkinson also hopes that St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour and his fellow directors who are selling a controlling stake in the club will take that offer of help into account before finalising a deal which currently stands at £1.5million.
He said: “We expect future negotiations to acknowledge any money which may have been put into the club by the fans during a potentially uncertain period.”
SMISA, meanwhile, have launched their own fund called Support Our Saints and hope to arrange a series of fundraising events.
The newco saga should become clearer tomorrow when SFL clubs vote on whether to banish Rangers to the Third Division or allow them to drop just one tier to the First Division.
For more information on the Nero Blanco fund, visit www.10000hours.org
Details of the SMISA scheme are available at www.smisa.net

Here's the article from the Paisley Daily Express:

Gilmour condemns “horrific” newco vote
Jul 14 2012 by Andy Newport, Paisley Daily Express

SIMMERING Stewart Gilmour last night let rip at the lower league clubs who tossed Rangers to the depths of the Scottish game ... sparking fears of mass redundancies at St Mirren.

The Saints chairman was left stunned yesterday afternoon when news broke from a Hampden summit that the 30 SFL clubs had decided to block the admission of the Ibrox club’s newco to the First Division.

By an overwhelming margin of 25-5, they voted to banish the liquidated Glasgow outfit to the Third Division – and, in the process, cast Scottish football into a whole new crisis.

Chairmen of top-flight clubs are now bracing themselves for a doomsday scenario that could see big-money commercial partners, such as Sky television, pull out of their SPL deals.

And Gilmour – who was enjoying a sunshine break in Spain when yesterday’s vote result was announced – admits dark clouds are already looming as he fears having to axe many of the club’s loyal staff.

In an exclusive interview with Express Sports, Gilmour said: “This is horrific news for St Mirren Football Club. The consequences are terrible – catastrophic even.

“What happens next? Well, there is an SPL meeting on Monday and we will need to see what is said then and take it from there.

“The St Mirren board will meet in the days after that SPL meeting and decide what is the best way forward but we are already looking at major redundancies.”

Yesterday’s vote came just days after SFA chief executive Stewart Regan drew up a masterplan aimed at enticing the SFL clubs into backing the First Division option.

Despite promises of a 16-team top division within two years and enhanced cash handouts for all of Scotland’s 42 senior clubs, the ‘sporting integrity’ argument won the day as Rangers were exiled.

But Gilmour insists an opportunity has been missed – and a blunder has been made that could send a number of clubs into the same financial abyss currently occupied by the Govan outfit.

He said: “To be fair to Stewart Regan, the document he released last week was a good document.

“It set out changes to Scottish football that would bring in a fairer structure, fairer distribution system, fairer everything.

“Unfortunately, the people in the SFL have not bought into that. I just hope they realise the damage they have done to Scottish football.

“Five clubs in the SPL could be in administration within weeks – and we will have to do everything we can to avoid being one of them.”

Rangers last night issued their own statement which claimed that, following talks with SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster and Regan, they believe plans for SPL 2 – which would include Rangers – could now be put in motion, with existing Division One members invited to join.

However, Gilmour can’t see such a set-up getting off the ground.

He added: “The SFA and the other bodies are already talking about the options and that could be decided on Monday.

“As for an SPL 2, I’m not sure that is any better than letting Rangers back into the top flight.”

He added: “The SFA and the other bodies are already talking about the options and that could be decided on Monday.

“As for an SPL 2, I’m not sure that is any better than letting Rangers back into the top flight.”

Great, thanks.

Does that mean that crowds at Ibrox will increase as the fans of the stricken clubs decide to watch a real team in Div 3?

This f*cking stinks.

It looks like the SFL chairmen have basically been told by the SPL chairmen to vote us into Div 1 to save their horrible little clubs. The SFL chairmen have basically told them to ram it and voted as they seen fit.

It's bordering on illegal.

That's right, blame the SFL for your own 'catastrophic' decision.

They were expecting a year in the 1st division for us. All the SPL teams will now have problems. Our support is one factor but SKY will be the main one.

I have no sympathy for any of the SPL sides whatsoever.

They had the chance to vote Rangers intothe SPL with heavy sanctions and still voted us out.

Now they same ****s are greeting that we are now in the 3rd division and blaming the SFL clubs for not bailing them out.

Feck them.

Still can't let go of the hatred .... What difference is there between a Division 1 and an SPL 2 - none - Gilmour, what a nugget.

2012 has been a horrible year for me and my family in a personal sense as well as footballing one.

For the first time this year I sit smiling and watching others suffer, those who stabbed us in the front and wanted to see us squirm in pain.

I will enjoy watching those clubs die and look forward to them being punished when their debts catch up with them
I wonder if their finances will be publically, forensically examined and exposed like ours was?
Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

another thing.

is he not not open to legal recourse if his club end up liquidated directly as a consequence of HIS actions i.e. the vote they took to destroy their income streams?

Agreed, being saying for some time that all these Chairmen who voted us out of the SPL to the obvious financial detriment of their clubs have breached their statutory responsibilities under the Companies Acts.

I look forward to some savvy shareholder suing them for breach of these requirements.

I suspect also that many of the SFL clubs have never forgiven the SPL clubs for the manner of their breakaway, and disregard for the rest, and may therefore have voted yesterday to cause them maximum carnage.

They were all(spl clubs) stepping over each other to get the boot into us. "live within our means, sporting integrity, don't need Rangers" were their favourite phrases. Their horrible fans, most of whom don't probably buy season book, couldn't wait to kick us out. "we'd rather die than have a newco Rangers" they screamed.!!!

Well, your chickens have come home to well and truly roost.

Rangers are 140 years old and will be here long after all these horrible little parasites are gone.

Gilmour's sale of St Midden, must now be a firesale and his cut has been dramatically reduced, he is only thinking of himself.

He now thinks it might be a better option of allowing Rangers back into SPL, he will no doubt receive support from other SPL Chairmen.

Rangers have been damaged and our squad has been decimated, so they will see that as an opportunity to get our cash without us having any chance of winning anything. They will add sanctions.

Our owner Green will accept this after SPL AGM on Monday.

We must boycott away games at all costs to get even with this shower of hate filled clubs.
