This is a sad day for the Glasgow Rangers. Luckily for the Rangers Family the heart of the club will go on as Rangers FC #rangersfamily #RFC

Sometimes I think about how lucky we were to have this genuinely world class pairing at our club. Even if Frank wasn't at his best.

They're so respected in world football and nice to know they love The Rangers

Nice to see that Rangers are in the hearts of these genuine icons of the game.

I'd like to see more of our ex players come out and support us at this time. Good on them.

As class as RdB was, Hartson would have won us 2 more titles. :ninja:

Ronald De Boer, class act, pleasure to watch , even when "lazily" refusing to chase crisp packets around the pitch.

Any chance of forking over some cash for the Rangers?

Fat Hartson couldn't lace De Boer's boots.

That he couldnt.

But he would have been a better signing for us in the longer term.

At the time, we would probably have signed both Hartson and de Boer (what's an extra 4mll in the liquidation pot..) if we hadn't had a heart specialist as the club doctor looking at players' knees.

It does amaze me how this club of ours can get under the skin of even the biggest superstars...

It proves that the extreme levels of hate directed towards the club here in Scotland are the cause of jealousy, bitterness and bigotry. As if the club/fans really was as evil as these people make out, we would never have seen so many of our foreign stars develop this affinity.

Im with Xavi H here.
RDB was great but spent a lot of time out injured which ironically Hartson didnt despite fears for his fitness.
Did we not essentially sign Flo instead of Hartson though so could easily have had both?

Flo had a decent goal return for us though & although we paid 12m didn't we sell him for 9/10m?

It's amazing how many players, with no prior care for our club either way beforehand, end up so in love with the place after playing here.

Unfortunately, it's not something we can "sell" to someone before they sign, as there's no way to explain it that'll do it justice.

You cant really compare Ronald De Boer the John Hartson!

Although Hartson was a good player for the scum and we never really replaced Mols (goal wise) after his injury.

Quality wise - absolutley, RdB was by far and away a superior football player.

But against O'Neil's Tim mob at the time, he was exactly the type of striker we needed to rag doll their backline.

I think he scored around 8 or 9 times against us. Every time it happened it sickened me more that we rejected him on the basis that "his knees were gubbed."

RdB was wonderful to watch in parts of 01/02 and certainly the whole of 02/03.

I just feel Hartson would have given us more return. Hindsight is a wonderful thing ofcourse.

No doubt if he signed for us his knee would have buckled.
