I will be spending a few days up there over the 12th July period and would like to partake of a beverage or 2 and not be annoyed by any tarriers in the process ;)

The Rangers/Celtic thing is not the same to the Orcadians as it is to the Glaswegians. They don't care what you are. If it's any consolation, there's very few chapels up there but you will not find Rangers/Celtic pubs there like there are here. They take you as they find you.

Hello from the Orkney True Blues. What's this rollocks about no Rangers bar in Kirkwall? There's the small matter of the OTB watching every televised game at The Shore.

If the OP sends me a PM I'll give him the SP ;-)

I spent a lot of time in Orkney working,
A lot of good boozers there, but stay away from the Royal bar at the Orkney Hotel,
Full of alky soap dodgers,
As for the ceiling, it,s full of tarrier scarves and banners

You must have been in South Uist, North Uist is protestant.
