Well there is a group set up who released a song (top of board) with proceeds going to a bust of WS. There was an interview on Sky Sports this morning about it too

i disagree with this entirely

a bust similar to the struth one to be place somewhere inside the stadium - yes

but a statue outside - no thanks

We should rename the Govan the Walter Smith stand. That would be a fitting tribute I reckon.

There will be a bust of Smith inside the stadium, if it was good enough for Struth it is good enough for Walter ;)

Statues outside look tacky imo.

I prefer the idea of naming a stand or Murray Park after Walter Smith. Walter is our greatest manager in the modern era, second only to Mr Struth in our great club's history. He deserves a fitting tribute.

Maybe I am subconciously aware that Celtic have went down the statue route so I want to avoid it, but I dont care.

I would like the idea of his portrait hanging on the wall opposite to the Bill Struth portrait. All of our trophies framed between our two greatest managers.

As for the Govan being renamed - on objection here.

Daft Idea. The only statue outside the ground should be the Disaster Memorial imo.

rename the govan and some stuff inside the stadium, but we don't want a collection of statutes outside thank you very much

Renaming the Govan for me would be a best idea, love the Idea of the:

"Sir Walter Smith Stand"

Sorry not for me , statues are for dead people. There are plenty of other things that we can do to show our gratitude to Mr Smith and the high esteem he his held by the majority of Rangers fans .
I agree with The Dude " The only statue outside the ground should be the Disaster Memorial " .

Big admirer of Walter's as most of us are... I think that the dust should settle for a few years before any lasting tribute is made to him. You're not a legend until history views you as such... and he's not really history yet. Let's see how we all look back on his years in, say, 5-10 years and then consider something special.

The club offered Walter a testimonial at the end of the season to say thanks, he turned this down.

There were plans to have a bust at the top of the stairs similar to Mr Struth's, however with the changes to the board I don't know what stage this it at.

I'm not in favour of a statue but renaming a stand or the likes of a reception suite/area would be appropriate.

I would name a stand after him.

Murray Park should not be changed. He was in charge at the time and so it should remain.

Id rename murray park after him.

This is the funniest idfea ive read on here, can you advise why Murray park should be renamed?

Smith could have easily have built Smith Park in the 90's but was happy to escort M players about Renfrewshire and Glasgow is a bus to public playing fields.
