Just heard on the tv that t@dger given saying hed love to sign for them. Thoughts gents? I think hes passed his best what is he 35? plus the wages would be in excess of 20k easily. Let them stroll on imo. :)

I'd die a happy man if big Lafferty slotted a hat trick by that tosser.

If he was to sign for them he'd be the best keeper to have played for them whilst i've been alive.

It still wouldn't win them the league though.

He'll be on at least treble that at Man City

He would certainly improve them, but would he alone win them the title...doubtful

sign who they want as long as we do our business right it won't make a bit of difference :)54

Win win for him as he will worth about 25 million the minute the ink is dry.

Better than Gordon Marshall or Rab Douglas? :D

One in my work said the roly, poly, holy goalie was coming back!! Oh and they're super confident(hurting) for next season.

KingCarlos
25-05-2011, 18:22
Hmm, I'd rather they didn't get him to be totally honest. Better than anything they have or are likely to be able to get.

Surely Given would have numerous suitors amongst decent EPL teams—so unless he is a rabid tarrier why would he sign for sellick?

Exactly. Timothy can't afford him ---thankfully.

Robbie Keane's press conference patter when joining each of his multitudinous clubs was to say " ever since I was a boy I've always dreamt of playing for.....". Is Given doing the same line?

He's a celtc fan

Moodymann
25-05-2011, 18:25
Considering the damage he did to his shoulder, he's one injury away from enforced retirement and the taigs know it :D

(Hence the reason very few, if any EPL sides will touch him)

He would have a job on to improve them, they nearly broke the SPL clean sheet record this season on the way to 92 points. Grudged as I am to say it that’s an excellent season.

Foster will go on to be a pretty good keeper.

Russell RFC
25-05-2011, 18:26
If he did sign they would probably need to spend quite a bit and he must be on quite a big wage so if they pay all this for goalkeeper who is way passed it. What age is he now?

LiviBear2
25-05-2011, 18:26
Big Jela will be shiting himself at the thought of facing him...:(

Not on loan and no one will buy him due to his age and injuries

I reckon the mhanks would need to give him at least 40k per week before he would even consider moving up here.

kennyr
25-05-2011, 18:31
He may be a rabid dhim but there is no way hes gonna take a 40k pay cut to join the plastic paddies

They have competition from Barcelona & Real Madrid. But expect him to sign for the bigger club Celtic ;)

I could see it happening if Man City refused to let him join another EPL club, but I don't see what that would achieve for them, as it would lead to him leaving for nothing.

Usual transer window speculation by the media

imbran
25-05-2011, 18:35
Probably just the usual dross speculation but if true he would be the best keeper they've had for a good while (not in McGregor or Alexander's class though :p )

Can you imagine the reaction if they sign him. He'd be treated like a hero before he even played a game because a) he's Irish and b) has played at a high level throughout his career. There'd be about 20,000 of them in the car park to welcome him. Hopefully they'll throw about £25k p/w at him. They never learn.

Huge wages, hardly played in a while, past his prime maybe?

Hope so. Less to spend on other areas.

Until Jelavic puts a couple past him in the first old firm game

Hasnt made a save in anger for a year, for that reason like Bellamy and Keane (x2) before him, he will prove a luxury they cant afford.

Promise much, deliver little.

He's still a very good keeper. Should he sign for them, i hope it isn't a Man City charity case. Full fee and wages please.

I can't help but think there would be a PL team willing to double any wages Celtc could offer, though.

shay given is one of only 5 goalkeepers to have conceded over 500 goals in the EPL

Two years ago this would have been scary, but Given hasn't really performed that well over the past few seasons. Nothing to worry about here.

Derry's Walls

If he does sign for them then he'll get plenty of opportunity show us how good he is if the dhims persist in playing that big bald bastard in central defence.

25-05-2011, 19:11
Cracking keeper

Scum don't do good keepers

Volcanic ash from Iceland; black president of USA; the world is still round - Shay Given to Paedodrome this just won't happen

RangersSunderland
25-05-2011, 19:28
Given kept Newcastle up single handedly for about 3 years. He left and they went down the same season. Good goalkeeper.

Hes 35 and played at newcastle for years on end - ofcourse his record is going to be poor :D

For the record i think he is a great keeper but they will need more than that to keep big Jela out :)

Who cares we have the best keeper in Britain!!He dives to the left...he dives to the right...

sfaulds
25-05-2011, 20:18
good goalkeeper but if he was ever world class why has a big club never made a move for him? I cant remember that big mutant making too many errors for celtic this season so a new keeper doesnt bother me

Slamannan Blue
25-05-2011, 20:19
Good goalkeeper, Shagger is better though.

baystatebear
25-05-2011, 20:23
Woeful defending there by Crainey and Caldwell

halfaperson
25-05-2011, 20:23
not as good as McGregor

Thornliebank_Bear
25-05-2011, 20:24
Id really rather this did not happen.

I like the idea of celtic have a pretty average or at times utter crap keeper and while ive not seen him for a wee while there is no doubt he is very good 1.

HG3
25-05-2011, 20:46
Say what you like, he is a good keeper and I would prefer it if he didn't go there.

25-05-2011, 22:07

still laughing at the keane fail:)

25-05-2011, 22:08
Who cares who the sign.

Cannavaro
25-05-2011, 22:46
He would be a good signing for them, at least a couple of decent years left in him unless his shoulder goes again. City need to have two decent keepers though so may tell him to shut it and stay put

SCG
25-05-2011, 23:43
please yes his wages will rape them

Devlin
25-05-2011, 23:45
Doesn't come close to shagger atm.

Is he actually signing for them? He will definitely improve their team as he is much better than Herman Munster.

What! They are not sticking with Frother?.....after all the shoite he has come up with in the mhedia, poor Frother must be devestated
