Here you are People !!

The Ibrox Memorial Grove to our absent friends has begun........

Just to give you an update of the planting of your grove.

The grove will be planted in Autumn 2010 on Dundreggan Estate in Glen Moriston. The species of trees to be planted will most probably be scots pine, as you will understand the planting plans have yet to be finalised.

Trees for Life purchased the estate in August 2008, it covers 4,000 hectares (10,000 acres) of land, and is an ideal site for the restoration of the Caledonian Forest. The Estate contains a good remnant of ancient woodland including Scots pine, oak, aspen, bird cherry and ash, and of particular note is the outstanding area of large junipers in the woodland. Dundreggan Estate is strategically located to form a key part of our planned linkage to reconnect the Caledonian forest remnants in Glen Moriston with those in Glen Affric.

Thank you again for setting up the grove and I wish you good luck in your worthwhile endeavour.

As I said previously, please contact me if you require any further assistance.

In time it will see donations made to cover the 66 souls who died with 66 trees and it is something people will be able to arrange with the charity to visit etc in the years to come !!

Hopefully hundreds more trees will be planted in the grove in the months and years to come as people mark occassions or take this cause to their hearts!!

Brilliant - many thanks and it can indeed only grow - pardon the pun !!

I hope in the coming times later this year and next year to get up to the grove and get photos of the area and the grove as the trees grow etc !! It is something anyone can do in the future by contacting the charity asking to see the grove in time and take a hike to see it.

This is the Estate where the grove will be....

Dundreggan is a 4,000 hectare (10,000 acre) estate in Glen Moriston which Trees for Life has purchased in 2008, thereby providing a major opportunity to expand the forest restoration work and establish a native woodland link between Glen Moriston and Glen Affric.

Trees can be planted for any life event or to pay tribute to an absent friend.

Even dedicate a tree to your favourite Ranger, manager, legend or our gallant pioneers and it can be similar to the brick panels at Ibrox now that they are almost full !!

Something that is going to be part of Scotland long after we are all gone !! The possibilities are endless.....

are we going for more bears???

It is something that can and will be similar to the brick panels at Ibrox - people can donate to the grove for any occassion in their lives and trees will be donated to the 25 from 1902 and 2 from 1961 plus trees can be dedicated to favourite players, managers or our gallant pioneers.

It can be as big as we want it to be and will be publicised and promoted as such.

Trees for Life is the only organisation specifically dedicated to restoring the Caledonian Forest to a target area of 600 sq miles in the Scottish Highlands. They work in partnership with the Forestry Commission, RSPB and private landowners, and own and manage the 10,000 acre Dundreggan Estate.

Each year they run over 45 Conservation Work Weeks. Hundreds of volunteers join us annually in planting over 100,000 trees in protected areas, and carry out other restoration work such as seed collection and propagation of young trees and rare woodland plants. They have planted over 800,000 trees since 1989.

An update on the grove which has been started with 50 from the Margaret Ferguson Fund and people have already donated to the grove and 67 trees so far !!

Its the same principle as the stadium bricks - for 5 a tree will be planted and you can leave a message to appear on the grove page for any person, occassion or even your favourite Ranger or supporters club etc !!

Very shortly money from the Margaret Fund will see 66 trees planted then 2 trees then 25 trees to mark those who lost their lives at Ibrox.

This is the link you click on the page and you can donate by phone too !!
