Folk have been asking for these for ages and I managed to get them onto the PC this afternoon.

There's about 60 of them so it'll take me a while to get them all on imageshack.

Enjoy....................

Hopefully some these will be of some use to the mystery of when the gates at the Copland End moved to the Broomloan. TCBuzz on the old board was trying to figure this out.

This really shows the lack of forward planning that went into this redevelopment. Aside from the goalpost roof structures used on the 3 new stands, the goal end stands were clearly built too close to the pitch to enable future infiling of the corners at the main stand, and thats even before the Club Deck stairwells were added.

Nice collection of photos though.

Contact one of the fanzines and allow them to put them in their mags or even Mr McIlroy at the Rangers Historian mag. That would allow a wider circulation see them

It's the Copland mate. You can tell by the fact that it's the Main Stand to the left of them.

That's around 1980. Obviously the pics form the Cooper Gate scenes have the new gates and these ones have been shifted to the Broomloan end.

I'm guessing that the gates were shifted during the reconstruction of the Main Stand to add the Club Deck on.

Nah it's just that the securtiy back then was as bad as Rock Steady are now. :D

He never worked on it, just had a keen interest.

He was a bit concerned that the pics he took of Bar72 construction recently, that I posted on the old board, would land him in trouble as he sneaked in then too. Depends who you ask on site. If you get a decent foreman, he may escort you in to let you take a few.........

Hard to tell that, its strange theyve never been put back to the copland end.

also interesting to notice the metal sheets over the gate. people mentioning.moaning about (;) ) them the past few years made me think they were a modern invention.

This has got to be one of the best ever threads on follow follow, i had never seen any pictures before of ibrox being built up and these are simply breathtaking.

Agree with previous comments, if your father was happy with it someone at Ibrox should have these pictures printed and framed for displaying at Ibrox or even better a future musuem. Even these should have a home in Hampdens musuem they are that good.

Brilliant part of our history there.

Thank you for taking the time hosting these and putting them on this board, and a major thanks for your dad keeping these photos on disk all this time. They have made this bear very happy indeed.

Interesting to see the relative height of the new stands v the old terracing. I'm quite surprised that they are substantially higher.

J.

I remember my old man telling me a story years ago.

Must've been during the construction of the Copland as it was done first. They were at a game on the Saturday and remarked how the new stand was so much higher than the current terracing. Obvioulsy Ibrox was one of the first of it's kind at the time so they really had no frame of reference.

They came back in two weeks for the next game and another tier had been put on the stand! They couldn't quite believe it. :D

They height of them in comparison to the old terracing is amazing.

Yeah, I thought about watermarking them (or at least getting someone to do it for me) but I'm not bothered about sharing them. The only thing I'd ask is that no one uses them for public displays until I've had the chance to get them to a few different folk like Mr McIlroy or the official club historian.

As I said, there's a few more in the album that I'll hopefully get uploaded later on in the week.

Far too many photos which have been lost in the past. Rangers should have museum and an on-line archive of photos like this which the supporters can access at any time.

Pics that bring back memories to this 40 year old of how vast the old place was.
The pics themselves are worthy of a book with it's own story but as some have stated it brings home how much we as a club need a museum.
Was at the SFA museum on Monday and enjoyed it.

Surely we, with our history and heritage, can do similar and hopefully better.?

It's the Copland mate. You can tell by the fact that it's the Main Stand to the left of them.

That's around 1980. Obviously the pics form the Cooper Gate scenes have the new gates and these ones have been shifted to the Broomloan end.

I'm guessing that the gates were shifted during the reconstruction of the Main Stand to add the Club Deck on.
Must have been someone who does'nt know right from left who was responsible for this as even the crests at either side of the main stand were put back erse for elbow

oh and one last one..............

what a lovely looking wee boy............although his parents have a terrible dress sense for kids.Pardon the haircut but they were so skint with Old Man Laudrup1 spending all his money on camera film that it was washed with fairy liquid in the sink (ahhh the 70's eh?) and cut by Mrs Old Dear Laudrup1. :D

I've just dug out my photo album with my old tickets in them, my dad kept them all and I got them when he died, i'll scan a couple tomorrow night and post them here,

I've got one from the Liverpool game on 22nd December 1981 which says
"New Ibrox Stadium - Official Opening Match"
The admission was £1.50!

I've also one from parkhead on the 21st February 1981, admission price £1.75!

and this is the final two I have for the moment...............

I've been told I was one of the very last people on the terracing as the bulldozers moved in shortly after these were taken.

Tammy is covering aforementioned bowl cut this time. :D

That's a point mate. I've been given an absolute rake of sites that folk would like to post them on.

What I'd like to do is get the rest of the collection posted on here first, contact the Mr McIroy and the official club historian and see if they'd like to help out with spreading the word as such and hopefully get my Dad's name mentioned in a wee surprise credit for him.

Hopefully I'll have some more to post later tonight.
