Looks like they have just been copy and pasting directly from the Rangers website because they have no access to a story.

Should the club slap copyright status over everything on the webpage and go through the court for infringement/plagerism and seek damages?

They'll get away with it because they've credited the club website and provided a link

This probably comes under fair use. As long as the source is listed.

The BBC are however scum and should be shut down. The TV tax is an abomination.

The official website says you can use the story as long as you give appropriate credit which has been done.

If I were in charge of the BBC in its entirety, i would personally shut down BBC Scotland. Think of the cost savings for the network as a whole.
