View Full Version : Can we dispel the myth that the fans could have done more?

Seen countless posts on here slating the effort the fans put in to get rid of Ashley and the other rats. Seems to be the party line on here by a lot of FF'ers that "if this was the Tims, they would be rioting/tearing down the walls at Parkhead/Whyte would be in a box etc etc." There is absolutely no chance that the events of the past week would not have happened if it wasn't for our magnificent support.

10,000 march to Hampden
Stadium boycott that led to attendances of 10,000
Boycott of merchandise
The efforts of Craig Houston and the supporters groups with the leaked emails etc that got rid of Somers and some other rats.
The sellouts at almost every game home and away when King and Co finally got in.

Just to name a few things. There is so many other examples as well.

The support deserve a massive pat on the back.

Most of the support were great but let's not shove on the blue tinted specs. Craig Houston and SOS done a fantastic job bit the amount of match going fans who still looked upon him as a trouble maker even in the last few years was ****ing unreal.

Don't know how accurate it is but the animosity towards Houston and SOS largely seemed to be from the social media armchair fans. Admittedly, the first year was challenging him though.

Tell you what, we have done far more than Newcastle fans who have put up with it a lot more than we did.

The majority of our fans have shown great determination in getting rid of the ****.

The loyalty of the fans cannot be questioned. The fans are more divided than at most other times in our history, which might by down to the times we live in or may be due to what we have been through? We need to stop the infighting and if people have disagreements, which is inevitable, talk them through rationally, don't jump aboard the offended bus straightaway and castigate your fellow fan. Let's work together for the good of the fanbase and thus the club.

Let's dispel once and for all with this fiction that the fans don't know what they're doing. They know EXACTLY what they're doing.

What have they actually put up with though? They hadn't won anything in 35 years prior to Ashley buying the club and have been a yoyo club for a long time. Ashley may be taking money out but they have done as well or otherwise as one would expect. Ashley may have taken a load of money out but as long as he sells to someone who will do no worse, it's hard to say they are really suffering. They have not suffered what we have, the equivalent would be them having to go and play Blythe Spartans.

Quite frankly, I am enormously proud to have taken part in all of the above and enormously proud of the tens of thousands who did likewise.

Make no mistake about this, without the selfless actions and steely determination of us fans, the spivs would still be running the show today.

We made this happen and our actions will now go down in the folklore of the club.
