I am sure this has been covered at some stage on here. But I was reading about a young Scottish lad - albeit one who has lived in Spain for years - who is on Real's books and appearing at representative level for Scotland.

Jack something?

Anyone know anything about the kid? Great white hope, or another over hyped journeyman?

Jack Harper I'm sure his name is.

Don't know much at all about him though.

Get him on the bench for a World Cup qualifier and bring him on when we're 3-0 down. Tie him to the team before he has a chance to think about it.

He is my cousin John Harper's boy. Born in Spain of Scottish parents who are Rangers fans.
I met and spoke to Jack and his two brothers who are players at my aunts ( their grans) funeral recently in Barrhead.
He says he is Scottish and that will do for our family.

And good luck to him. If you speak to him again please pass on my best wishes. I'd have wished him all the best even without knowing his parents were bears, so now it is increased exponentially.

Good luck to the lad but it's exceptionally difficult for forwards to breakthrough into the first team at Madrid because the club tend to go out and pay tens of millions for guys in the prime of their careers.

To make it at Madrid at a young age you'd have to be the 'real deal' and they don't come along often.

Guy's like Soldado come through, get an occasional sniff then a decent move, although the English game doesn't seem to suit.
I think there is even less chance now than when Soldado came through their youth system as Florentino Perez is very much for 'the Global Brand' and names to match.

I completely understand, he should have good chance of becoming a professional though.

Casillas, Jese and Cravajal are the only three who have came through the ranks in the team at present

Real Madrid appear to be the ultimate 'buying' club as the still like their big names, however no matter what, this should give him a good grounding

Would hope so.

He is 18 and 7 months so should be looking to break into their second side in the Spanish 3rd division or get out on loan by next season.

According to this, Real Madrid II have three forwards at 18, 19(x2), 20, 21 and 23.

The youth squad with UEFA

The 21 year old forward Jese, seems to be the one they have to a degree fast-tracked.
When Harper's age, he got a 9 minute cameo in the first team (league)....went back to Real Madrid II the following season (then in 2nd tier) and score 22 goals......last season got nearly 600 minutes in the first team (league) scoring 5 goals.

Having a look at the teams on flashscores and it has him with a spanish flag beside his name. Unable to post link as on phone.

So can he play for and most importantly does he really want to play Scotland rather than Spain?

I would assume that he would qualify for both.

Unless he's an exceptional talent it's unlikely he would get a Spanish cap at a young age though

Oldest boy Ryan played for some lower division teams and he had trials over here but injury prevented him progressing.

Other one is Mac Harper who is a player but not aware of who he plays for.

Wow. Just seen the highlights. The boy has talent. Bags of it. What a star he is going to be. Strong, physical, vision, great shot. Can we have him on loan next season?

Best of luck to him, not that he needs any luck.
